Can slimes spawn naturally?

I built a swamp slime farm but no slimed are spawning.

Animal and mob spawning is turned on.

Was wondering to make one myself (IF it works ).

Slimes only generate in swamp biomes, as there are no slime chunks.

When I tried to build a slime farm, I saw that it wasn't producing anything. I AFKed there anyway for about 1 HR and it produced 24 slimeballs. I could have built it wrong.

Also remember mooncicle, as no moon no spawning (I believe).
U also can get slime via mcc leveling shovel/dig.
