Why punishments make no sense (please read and comment)

I have a quick question for everyone. Why do people who are brand new to the server get away with saying that all {insert minority} should die? but when a top player with over 350 hours of playtime, is an active and positive community member, and pays people to vote, bringing new players to complex, refrences a lighthearted, joking video with the work "Llbtard" in its title, I get muted. This happens way to often, and not just to me. Just a question, and I would love so see some comments! (Staff and players)

Hey there creepermzl! We try to treat all players equally in regards to when our rules are broken. We are human so sometimes we miss things, but when you guys report things to us using the forums Player Reports section or on our discord under the #support section, we're able to react much quicker and help respond to rule breakers more consistently.

Ok, that's fair, I just didn't know that 1. That was a word i couldn't say, and 2. Couldn't say it even if i was talking about a famous video.

If you were punished for saying 'Libtard' then it's probably because of how close it is to another word that's very offensive. While you might not have meant it this way, a lot of people purposefully try to misspell offensive words to get around the chat filter, so we tend to treat them just as severely as the actual words themselves in most cases.

Okay, so you are saying it is too close to the "R" word or because that exact word that I wrote isn't allowed? I still see people using an "L" instead of a "i" all the time. Also, if the word isn't bad on it's own, why am I still muted? Only 4/7 letters are the same. Also, it would be great if 1. a human could read my appeal(if they do, it doesn't look like they do), and 2. could tell me why it was denied. I understand that having a bot mute people isn't 100% accurate, but maybe a system where the more active you are in the community, there is a better chance for a staff to be able to manually review what happened, instead of a bot that isn't always correct(kind of like youtube monetization being done manually for people with higher sub counts), because this impacts an active player more than just a random new player. Also maybe make a list of things you cant say, so people like me know. I was in the middle of having a great conversation, and and got delayed 12 hours. We were not targeting anyone, just talking about memes. We gotta have more warning, because if I knew this was gonna get me muted, I wouldn't have said it. We wuz just talkin.

I can assure you that we do review all mute appeals. We just use a bot system to communicate with players so we're able to more efficiently handle appeals, while allowing us to continue to do our jobs on the server. As for your mute specifically, if you'd like to make a ticket on our discord (discord.gg/ComplexVanilla), then a staff member can provide you with more specific info on why you were muted.
