Complex Prison
A thread on how to get started on Complex Prison

Prison is a game mode on the Complex Gaming Network where the main goal is to earn as much money and work your way through the ranks whilst becoming the richest prisoner on the server!

In this thread, we will be explaining to you how to get started on your journey. Make sure to read this thread carefully if you are having questions or simply seeking information on how to get started.

Daily Rewards
Small bonuses given daily!

Voting

A quick and easy way to get money is by voting. If you type /vote in the game this will have a link pop up in chat which will direct you to all 10 vanilla voting links when clicked on. Each of those sites will give out rewards to you when voting for the Complex Network. The rewards are: $1.000, 5 tokens and a vote crate key per voting link you vote on. The vote crate key is the reward that is the most interesting out of these, players will be interested in buying these vote keys for sufficient prices that will get you ranked up really easily! Make sure to look out for shop advertisements in public chat for places to sell them! Voting can be done once a day. Once you vote, you will be eligible to receive rewards from a vote party, you can run /vp for more information (vote parties are an easy way of getting money early game). To check if you have voted simply run the command /haveivotedtoday.

Dailies
Another way to get daily rewards is by typing /dailies in the chat which will teleport you to the postman in game. If you then right-click the postman that will open up a menu where you can collect your daily rewards. If you want more rewards each day that is possible by buying a rank on the store. As a member, you will only have the following reward which you can collect every 18 hours:

Kits
In case you have a rank on the prison game mode you can do /kit to get daily kits which will get you more tokens, runes, gear, and a better pickaxe! Ranks can be purchased on our store: https://store.mc-complex.com/category/prison-ranks

If you don’t want to purchase a rank but you do want a better pickaxe (which is very crucial) you can also buy pickaxes from the auction house by doing /ah. More on the auction house later in this thread.

Basics
Basic stuff you can do to make money

In prison, there are a whopping total of 38 mines! They rank from A-Z and there are 12 prestige mines! By doing /mines you will be able to see which blocks are in each mine. If you take a good look you will notice that the higher the mine, the better the blocks will be.

You can rankup by typing /rankup in chat while having the required amount of money. You can also use the command /rankupmax to rankup as much as you can with your current amount of money.

Once you’re at rank Z and you have 4,000,000,000, you can prestige! You can see the rewards and boosts for each prestige if you type /prestige.
Note: Prestiging does not reset your tokens or pickaxe.
Note: Your money does not wipe when you prestige, it just deducts however much the prestige cost is. Prestiging resets your letter rank but unlocks a new mine based on the prestige you unlocked! (Ex: Prestige 1 - Prestige 1 Mine, etc).

Mining is done with a pickaxe. So the better your pickaxe is the more money you will be making while mining. To upgrade your pickaxe you need to type /upgrade while holding the pickaxe. You will be using tokens to perform upgrades. You can also disable almost all upgrades when you don't need them. Make sure to stick with the pickaxe that you claim in the beginning, using another player’s pickaxe will cause the upgrades to be half of their original level while you use it.

Additionally, there is an event called Flash Mine where the top three players (or gangs) with the most blocks mined during a certain duration are awarded keys!

Tokens
As mentioned earlier, tokens are a big part of progressing through the prison. They are mainly used to upgrade pickaxes and armor. You can also choose to sell your tokens, the average price of tokens may vary as the economy is entirely run by our playerbase. To be able to sell your tokens you will need to withdraw your tokens by doing /tokens withdraw (amount).

Tokens can be gained by mining (with the lucky mining enchant), opening crates, buying them from other players, killing mobs in Skull Island, or opening lucky blocks. Lucky blocks can be obtained from the second perk of lucky mining (Lucky Spin 1). For more information on Skull Island, please check out the section Skull Island found in this thread!

Market
Bidwars is a new and efficient way to quickly sell your items. Players can choose the currency (gc/igm) and the starting bid, and the community will drive the final price. To get started, type /bidwars or choose “Bidwars” in the /market GUI. Click the chest, then click the emerald block to create an auction.

A vital part of the game is the Auction House, on the Auction House you can also buy/sell items that aren’t able to be sold or bought in the regular /shop like upgraded pickaxes, shards, or tokens to upgrade your pickaxe with. You can use the Auction House to trade valuable items and make money that way. Access the Auction House by doing /ah or doing /market and clicking “Auction House”.

To post an item on the auction house use the command /ah sell <Price> while holding the item you desire to put up.

Runes
Runes are custom enchants with special effects that players can apply to their armor and tools to benefit their gameplay.

There are 5 types of runes: common, rare, legendary, mythic, and seasonal runes. Common, rare, legendary, and mythic runes can be obtained at /warp infuser where you can trade exp for these runes.

If you right-click one of the tomes, you can view all of the runes within that section. Click the crown to see a list of all seasonal runes that were released in prisons. These seasonal runes cannot be obtained via any tomes. These unique runes with custom abilities only come with seasonal tools/gear that can be won from seasonal crates and cannot be transferred onto another item.

Once you buy a tome with exp from the infuser, you can right-click the tome and it will give you a random rune. There will be a success rate, a fail rate, and a critical fail rate. If your rune fails to apply to your armor or tool, the rune will vanish completely and it will not be applied. If the rune critically fails, the rune will vanish and your armor will be destroyed completely. To prevent fails and critical fails, you can buy lucky gems (the clover from /warp infuser). This will increase the success rate of the rune up to 100 percent and ensure that your rune applies to your armor.

If you have excess runes that you do not want to use, you can convert them into exp with the rune incinerator in the infuser (the bomb). If you want to remove a rune or vanilla enchant from an armor piece or tool, you can buy a cleansing wand in the infuser (the wand). This is handy if you want to upgrade a specific rune on your armor or if you want to get rid of a rune that you don’t like!

If you are kingpin+, you can obtain two-four free random tomes every three days with the command /freerunes.

Milestones
There are three different milestones: personal milestones, block break milestones, and gang milestones (also known as gang levels). By typing, /milestones, you can view all of your milestones. If you complete a milestone, you will be awarded!

Other
You can open your crate keys at /warp crates! These crates will give you a plethora of rewards. One of these rewards is Envoy Flares which can be obtained from Prisoner crates, Escapist crates, and Seasonal crates. Envoy flares are redeemable at /warp pvp in which you can open them after the timer is at 0. These envoys will give you different desirable rewards, however, PvP is enabled and people can steal your contraband loot.

Money boosters can also be obtainable from the prisoner and escapist crates. You can also get them from milestones! They are incredibly effective if you want to make a lot of money while mining since they boost your sell price. However, these money boosters cannot be used at plots!

Dynamite can also be obtained from crates! Dynamite come in 3 forms, Small Dynamite, Large Dynamite, And finally Nukes. To use these simply go to a mine, and right-click to throw them! Also note that Dynamite gives Money but does not give tokens or experience.

Note: Dynamite do not have a chance to “Proc” Seasonal Backpack runes.

Mystery boxes are things that you can open for different cosmetics. You will randomly get mystery boxes as you play the game or you can craft them with mystery dust in the Mystery Box GUI! To open your current mystery boxes use the command /Warp Cosmetics.

If you want to personalize your gameplay even more, you can run /prefs and disable or enable specific settings.

If you’re in a gambling mood, you can coinflip your items, money, tokens, experience, or GC! To coinflip your money, tokens, experience, or gc, run /cf <amount> and it will pop up with a confirmation menu. If you want to CF the item that you’re holding, run /cf hand. You can also take other players' CFs by running /cf and clicking one.

Finally, if you’re tired of the standard look of your pickaxe, you can obtain a pickaxe skin! Every seasonal crate has a pickaxe skin, however, you can also get it from the time traveler or even buy it from another player. To equip the pickaxe skin, you would need to convert your pickaxe into a netherite one. To do this you would need to craft a smithing table, buy a smithing template off the /shop (1.19/1.20 Blocks/Items), get a netherite ingot which can be obtained from lucky blocks, crates, or the Z mine, place the smithing table down at your plot, and convert your diamond pickaxe into a netherite one! After your pickaxe is netherite, you can run /skins and click one that you have and it will apply.

Some pickaxes will already be netherite from kits and such so keep this in mind!

Mid/Late Game

Plots

Plots are also a good way to make money. As previously mentioned in this thread, people make shops on their plots to earn money and buy from people through chest shops while mining at the same time. To learn more on how to set up a chest shop yourself make sure to check out this link.

To get a plot type the following command whilst in spawn: /plot a if the GUI appears click on the emerald block to create your plot.

To return to your plot, simply run /plots and click on the plot you wish to teleport to.

If you are having issues with creating a plot, first double-check if you are in spawn. If you are still experiencing not getting teleported to an available plot, wait for a reboot to occur and try again after the spawn zone has rebooted.

To browse other people's plots, run /pw. This is a good way of finding popular chest shops where you can go to sell your items.

In order to get a featured plot, you can buy a featured slot for tokens in /pw whenever it’s available.

To make a plot warp, run /plot, right-click your plot, click Plot Warps, and press Create a New warp. After that, you can right-click the warp and adjust the settings to whatever you’d like. You can make a plot open to the public by clicking to show on public warps under Warp Settings.

Hot Streaks
Hot streaks are enabled in /upgrades by right-clicking on an upgrade and clicking the flint and steel. You can choose (3) hot streaks to be enabled at any given time.

When enabled, there is a small chance a hot streak will activate resulting in a boost to that specific upgrade.

When a hot streak becomes active. The hot streak will last until your Mana (can be seen on the right side of your screen) runs out. You start with a storage for 100 Mana but this can be upgraded by using +Max Mana Increase Vouchers. If you want to make your hotstreaks last longer try to use some Mana Refill Vouchers while a hot streak is active to keep your Mana up. Mana is gained by being online. Mana regenerates at the rate of 0.5 mana per minute (30 an hour) while you’re online and 0.16 mana per minute (10 per hour) when you’re offline so choose your hot streaks wisely.

Momentum
The Momentum upgrade can be seen as an alternative way of mining. Instead of going for blocks as fast as possible, you will need to be more precise when mining. You can access and activate the momentum upgrade by doing /upgrade while holding your pickaxe.

You will need to break the blocks by hitting the green particles that are showing on the blocks.

When you have built up momentum, you will gain a Fortune bonus, a Sell bonus and a Haste boost. The amount of bonus you get will depend on the level of your Momentum upgrade and on how high your streak is. Every few seconds, your streak will decrease, and you will lose a little bit of your Momentum streak. Be mindful that you keep up the pace because the higher the streak, the faster your momentum will decrease, but don’t go too fast though as one miss-click could result in you losing your streak.

Backpacks
Everyone starts off with a special item called a backpack! A backpack acts as extra storage for blocks that you can sell as it fills up once your inventory is full. You can equip your backpack by placing it in your offhand (equip it in the inventory or press the 'F' key while holding it).

Every backpack starts with a block capacity of 500, and you can upgrade its block capacity by shifting and pressing your left click while you have it equipped. Golden Shards are required for upgrading your backpack, here is a list of the amount of shards needed for a certain level: Backpacks | Complex Gaming Wiki.

You can get Golden Shards Through the pickaxe enchant Scavenged Shards or through /Skull by eliminating mobs and escaping.

Seasonal backpacks are special types of backpacks that have a unique custom enchantment. For seasonal backpacks, you can trade them with other players for GC or in-game balance, or you can get them from seasonal crates (i.e. Celestial, Imperial, Cupid, etc).

Upgrading
Make your tools and armor stronger

You can /upgrade your tools or armor with tokens to make them more efficient!

Skill Tree
You have many options to upgrade your tools with the new skill tree. Once you complete one perk, you can move on to the next one. These perks will exponentially benefit your tool as you keep progressing, however, some require a specific prestige.

Order Of Upgrading

If you are lost and don’t know what to upgrade first, I recommend this path to start off:
Lucky Mining Perk 1 to 10, Lucky Mining Perk 2 to 20. Cellmate 10, Fortune 20.

After completing this, you can go for a variety of different upgrades - you can read their descriptions and choose whatever you want to prioritize. Excavator, Jackhammer, and Greed are important early game.

Please note: You should max out each upgrade named above before going to the next one.

Time Traveler

Every Saturday, you are met with the opportunity to bid for two old seasonal items at /warp timetraveler. You have a chance to bid on these items for 24 hours and the bid amounts aren’t viewable for other players. You can raise your bid at any time during the 24 hours, however, you can’t lower nor cancel the bid. Your bid will be refunded if it’s not the winning one and the tiers of the seasonal items will be randomized. You can only use GC ( /gc ) to bid for the seasonal items. If an item has multiple quantities, one item will be given to each of the top bidders. Once you’ve won an item, you can claim it in the top right of the Time Traveler GUI. Every Week 1 Item will be a Guaranteed Max Tier Items with only 1 item being given out (Item With Nether Star).

Skull Island

Skull Island is a thrilling way to gain tokens, golden shards, experience, and tomes. It is a PVE / PVP-based island in which you can fight mobs, open treasure chests, participate in fun events, and trade your golden shards for loot at the merchant. Skull Island is very challenging so make sure your armor is runed up and you’re ready to go!

To enter Skull Island, you will have to pay an entry fee of 5000 tokens at /warp skullisland.

Once you enter, you will be placed on a Phantom. To start your journey, press shift and you will glide down towards the ground.

Once you’re on the ground, you can start grinding mobs for golden shards, experience, and tokens!

To obtain golden shards, do /upgrade on your sword and focus on “Swindled Shards” (the gold nugget). To obtain experience, do /upgrade on your sword and focus on “Seafarer’s Bounty” (the experience bottle). After each mob kill, you will receive tokens. You will need to leave Skull Island via an exit crystal to keep the tokens and shards you earned from Skull Island.

Please note: it is crucial to /upgrade at least ONE level of Seafarer’s Bounty and to upgrade MENDING on all of your armor. This will ensure that your armor does not break while fighting the mobs.

NOTE: If you die to a player or a mob, you will lose all of your contraband items obtained and your tokens earned.

In Skull Island, different events occur randomly which include Last Man Standing, Boss Events, or even envoys! If you win these events, you will gain nice rewards such as golden shards, runes, etc.

You and your gang can claim a pond in Skull Island which boosts mob drops by +25%, and Experience Gain by +50%. You can run /ponds to see if a gang is controlling it and if it's claimable or not. It is located at the coordinates -323 90 130.

There are Treasure Chests in Skull Island that spawn every hour in different locations. The Treasure Chest is openable 3 times with a Treasure Key before it disappears. A Treasure Key is obtainable by mining with the Confidential Contraband upgrade on your pickaxe. The rewards vary from Mana vouchers, shards, a temporarily upgraded pickaxe, and other desired rewards! You can see the next incoming treasure chest via /treasurechest.

Hidden in the depths of the caves are Skull Ores, Simply mine them with a pickaxe to yield Gang Points for /Gang top. There are a total of 5 types of Ores which yield 1-5 Points depending on the Rarity.

When 1,500 Ores are collectively mined throughout the server, It triggers a Skullrush. Skull Rushes gives the following boosts, Boosted Rarity of Higher Tiered Ores, 30 second ore regeneration time, and Double Points from all Ores all for a total of 5 minutes! For more info use /skullmilestones.

Enjoy your Skull Island journey!

Gangs
Form one with your friends

Gangs are a fun and exciting way of teaming up with your friends to compete for “gang top.” This gives you a chance to win captivating rewards monthly.

You can start your adventure by creating a gang /gang create <name>, you can invite your friends by doing /gang invite <username>, and you can join a gang by doing /gang join <gang name>. You can also use the GUI by running /gang.

Once in a gang, you can run /gang to view this menu:

Golden Block: You and your gang can share money by depositing or withdrawing in the gang bank. A command to directly open this bank is /gang bank.

End Portal Frame: A Gang Private Mine which runs on gold shards unlocked through Gang Upgrades.

Chest: You can store your valuables to share with your friends by clicking the chest or running /gang vault.

Crown: You can check the top 6 gangs with the most value by clicking the crown or running /gang top.

At the end of the month, the top 6 gangs with the most value will be rewarded with:

The value of your gang resets every month after the rewards are given.

Emerald: In gang upgrades, you have a plethora of different things you can upgrade from using tokens. This includes the member limit, the amount of slots in your gang vault, the gang bank limit, skull island mob resistance, and skull island mob strength. You can either click the emerald or run /gang upgrades.

Ladder: You can check your Gang Level progress by clicking the ladder or doing /gang levels. When you complete a gang level, you will receive multiple rewards.

Compass: Daily gang missions are a fun way of working together with your gang to achieve a specific goal. After you complete the goal, you are rewarded with Gang Top Points. Weekly Gang Missions is the same mission given out to every gang. The first 3 gangs to finish this gain Gang Top Points, Gang Boosters, and a 1.25x(6h) Sell booster. You can click the compass to see your gang missions or you can run /gang missions.

Paper: You can check gang logs to see who claimed a milestone, who deposited value crystals, who put stuff / took items from the gang vault, who deposited and withdrew money from the gang bank, who contributed to specific upgrades, who changed permissions, who invited/kicked members, and the admin logs. You can either click the paper or run /gang logs.

Command Block: In gang settings, you can change your gang name, change your gang color, change the secondary color, and turn friendly fire off or on.

Barrier Block: In gang permissions, you can change access to certain functions (i.e. withdrawing from the bank) for different ranks including visitor, recruit, member, moderator, and admin.

Player Head: In the member section, you can manage the members of your gang which includes changing their rank, setting one’s title, or kicking them out. The initial cap of members in a gang is 3, however, you can upgrade the member limit up to 5 in gang upgrades.

Door: You can disband your gang by clicking the Door or running /gang disband.
Note: All items and upgrades in /gang vault & /gang upgrade will be lost when disbanding!

Leaderboards

Leaderboards are a way for players to earn rewards at the end of every week! Players can earn points through being at the top of doing vigorous tasks! From Mining the Most Ores to Killing the Most Bosses.

There are a total of 23 categories to go for. The Top 10 of each category will receive points based on their ranking. (Ex: #1 in a category will receive 10 points while #10 will only receive 1)

Every week 3 randomly selected categories will be worth Double Points making some categories more important than others. Leaderboards challenge the all arounds of a gamemode and require players to be versatile between them.

The Top 12 Players at the end of the week with the most points will receive rewards ranging from #1 - 50 GC - #12 - 5 GC.
Note: You can increase your leaderboard winnings through upgrading the Leaderboard Payouts Area in Gang Upgrades

Reset Vault
Save your items for next season

When the season comes to an end, you will have to store your valuable items in the Reset Vault so that they can be transferred over to the next season. There will be an announcement on our discord whenever the Reset Vault opens, and when it does you can store your items in it. Your pickaxe upgrades will not be saved through reset, neither will the runes on your armor. I suggest saving items like backpacks, seasonal armor pieces, tags, etc.

Claimed Tags and Pickaxe Skins along with Ranks will be saved along with Reset Vaulted items.

We hope this can get you started on your journey to escape prison! If you have any further questions make sure to ask the staff members that are online at the time, or the helpful community as they will be able to answer most of your questions!
