Resource Pack Help

I have a question about the resource pack. For the past 2 years I have not been able to have the resource pack on because when I enable it, it always makes my chat and leaderboard disappear from the screen. The question is what mod packs are incompatible with the Vanilla resource pack and what mod packs should I install for my optimization to be the best so I won't lag as much? Please help with this question thank you very much.

One mod that is required for the server resource pack is optifine. If you haven't, you can also download the server resource pack here.
